Ørsted and the PGE Group have signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for supplying offshore wind turbines for the Baltica 2 project with a total capacity of about 1.5 GW. It is Poland’s largest-ever renewable energy project and will produce enough green energy to cover the power consumption of approximately 2.4 million Polish households. Ørsted and PGE expect to be able to commission Baltica 2 by the end of 2027.

On January 25, 2023, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced the results of the procedure regarding the location permit for the offshore wind farms for the area 60.E.3 located on the Central Bank of the Baltic Sea. The most points in the procedure were awarded to Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica 1, a subsidiary of PGE Baltica of the PGE Group.

This shows how intensive this year has been for PGE Group in the offshore sector. PGE and Ørsted were granted decisions of the President of the Energy Regulatory Office on individual prices in contracts for differences for both of jointly developed stages of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm – Baltica 2 and Baltica 3. Earlier, in September 2022, the amount of the acceptable level of support for both stages of the project was approved by the European Commission as a result of individual notification of support for the Baltica OWF. The individual price in the contract for difference (CfD) for both stages of the Baltica OWF was set at the maximum allowable level of PLN 319.6/MWh.

The Regional Director of Environmental Protection in Gdansk issued a decision on the environmental conditions for the connection infrastructure, i.e. the transport of the produced power from Baltica  Offshore Wind Farm, Baltica 2 and Baltica 3, to be implemented in two stages.  This allows the project’s investors – PGE and Ørsted – to continue the project and to start working on the building permits.

An operation and maintenance base for the PGE Group's offshore wind farms and the Competence Center for Offshore Wind Energy will be built in the Ustka harbor on the Poland’s Baltic Sea coast, about 150 km west of Gdańsk. PGE Baltica, which implements the PGE Group's offshore program, presented plans for the development of port areas for the needs of its offshore projects.

PGE Baltica, a PGE Group company, has entered the stage of environmental surveys for the Baltica 1 project - an offshore wind farm located approx. 80 km from the Baltic coast. The research will be carried out by a consortium of Gdynia Maritime University and MEWO S.A. specializing in subsea surveys.
