The Pomeranian Voivode issued permits for the construction of the offshore part pf the Baltica 2 wind farm project which is developed by PGE and Ørsted. They refer to the construction of wind turbines as well as the offshore substations. These are the last permits necessary before starting construction.

Both construction permits issued by the Pomeranian Voivode concern a project officially named the "Offshore wind farm complex with a maximum total capacity of 1,500 MW along with technical infrastructure related to the preparatory, implementation and operational stages (Offshore Wind Farm Baltica 2).” The permits obtained cover the construction of four offshore substations and the construction of 107 offshore wind turbines along with a power and telecommunications network.

The construction design and application for building permits were developed by a consortium by Ramboll and the design office Projmors from Gdansk. Currently, these companies are working on preparing a technical project.

PGE and Ørsted have already contracted all the necessary components for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, as well as signed contracts for the installation of foundations, turbines and cables. The partners also selected the general contractor for the onshore connection infrastructure. The last step awaiting the investors before the construction begins will be the final investment decision (FID).

Baltica 2 is one of two stages - next to Baltica 3 - of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm. PGE and Ørsted plan to complete the construction of the Baltica 2 stage with a capacity of approximately 1.5 GW by the end of 2027, and the Baltica 3 stage with a capacity of approximately 1 GW by 2030. Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 together will create the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm with a total capacity of 2.5 GW, which will significantly contribute to the transformation of the Polish energy sector, providing green energy to almost 4 million households in Poland.
