The Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Gdańsk has issued a decision on environmental conditions for the Baltica 1 offshore wind farm. This means the project will be eligible to participate in the auction scheduled for December 17th of this year.
The Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm – a joint-venture of PGE and Ørsted – in addition to 107 turbines with a total capacity of 1.5 GW, will consist of four offshore electrical substations. Each of them will be equipped with two 225 MVA transformers. The first transformer has already been installed on one of the offshore substations (OSS). This is an important milestone in the production process of key components for the Baltica 2 project.
The first batch of monopiles – steel foundations for the Baltica 2 project, developed by Ørsted and PGE – rolled off factory floor. Monopiles are the key load-bearing elements of the entire offshore wind farm – they transfer turbine and wave loads, and the precision of their manufacturing and installation translates directly into the reliability and performance of the installation.
