PGE Baltica, a PGE Group company, has signed an agreement with Korporacja Budowlana DORACO for the construction of the operation and maintenance base in Ustka. A modern structure will serve as a key back facility for operating offshore wind farms in the Baltic. The construction works are planned to begin in Spring this year.

Signing an agreement between PGE and the contractor of the operation and maintenance base is another milestone in our plans concerning the development of offshore wind power in the Baltic Sea. The Port of Ustka serves as a heart of the entire system of managing offshore wind energy production, without which such farms as Baltica 2 would not be able to operate efficiently. We have involved a recognised Polish construction company DORACO, having broad experience in hydrotechnical projects, in the execution of the investment project. It is another entity from Pomerania that has participated in the construction of the operation and maintenance base. Thus, we are maintaining the 100% participation level of national contractors in our Ustka project – said Dariusz Marzec, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

Our long-standing experience in executing hydrotechnical projects will be used as part of such a strategic investment which supports the development of the Polish offshore industry. We are immensely satisfied to be able to contribute to the energy transition of the country through offering our hydrotechnical knowledge and practice. Cooperation with PGE Baltica is also a chance to engage numerous Polish companies as subcontractors, which forms an important element of our strategy. We are enthusiastic to start the construction of the base in Ustka and we believe that we will lay a foundation under facilitating further development of offshore wind power in the Baltic Sea. What was yesterday in the designing phase will start gaining an engineering shape today. We are waiting for other investment projects that will make use of the local content to such a great extent, which is a market example that is definitely worth following – said Radosław Jarosiewicz, Deputy President of the Management Board of Korporacja Budowlana DORACO.

The general contractor will prepare complete project documentation and will erect new structures in the western part of the Port of Ustka. Its tasks will also include acquiring final occupancy permits.

The operation and maintenance base, constructed by PGE Baltica in Ustka, will be built on an area of over 2.3 hectares on the site where the “Korab” fish processing plant previously operated. It will consist of an administration and amenity building, a storage building, a vehicle circulation area, and a wharf where special, fast crew transfer service vessels (CTVs) will be moored. An internal car park has also been provided for. Green areas with the total surface of approx. 5500 sq. m will be arranged around the base.

PGE Baltica has already been granted a final building permit for the base. The construction works are planned to begin already in the Spring this year and are scheduled to be completed in Q4 2026. The first offshore wind farm operated from the PGE base in Ustka will be Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm which is being built in the Baltic Sea by PGE together with a Danish company Ørsted. It is planned to be put into operation in 2027. Apart from the future service function, the base in Ustka will also serve as a back facility for the construction of that offshore wind farm. Crews of workers supporting the construction process will depart towards the wind farm from Ustka.
