The Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland issued decisions on granting permits for new seabed areas for development of offshore wind farms. PGE Group will be able to develop about 3.9 GW of capacity apart from projects that are currently under development.

The PGE Group confirms its position as the undisputed leader of offshore wind energy in Poland. We implement the largest renewable energy  investments in the Baltic Sea in terms of generation capacity. Today we received final decisions regarding five permits that will enable the construction of further offshore wind farms in the future. The total potential capacity of wind farms planned for construction in new areas is approx. 3.9 GW. This is additional capacity to 3.4 GW of PGE's currently developed projects. Implementation of plans and development of new areas in the coming years will allow us to not only achieve, but even exceed our strategic goal of 6.5 GW of capacity from offshore wind assumed for 2040 .
said Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

Detailed information on the new seabed areas granted to the PGE Group:

Area 43.E.1:

Located close to offshore wind farms projects already under development by PGE and to O&M base currently under development in Ustka, Poland.

Capacity potential: 990 MW

Area surface: about 118 sq. km

Distance to shore: about 42 km

Area 44.E.1:

Located close to offshore wind farms projects already under development by PGE and to O&M base currently under development in Ustka, Poland.

Capacity potential: 975 MW

Area surface: about 121 sq. km

Distance to shore: about 48 km

Area 60.E.3:

Area directly neighboring with Baltica 1 project under development by PGE.

Capacity potential: 1185 MW

Area surface: about 143 sq. km

Distance to shore: ok. 78 km

Obszar 60.E.4:

Area located close to Baltica 1 project under development by PGE..

Capacity potential: 555 MW

Area surface: about 77 sq. km

Distance to shore: about 85 km

Area 45.E.1:

Area located close to Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 projects under development, directly adjacent to Baltica 2. Area was applied for jointly by PGE and Ørsted.

Potential capacity: 210 MW

Area Surface: about 17 sq. km

Distance to shore: about 32 km

The total potential of offshore wind farms that can be developed in all these areas exceed 3.9 GW. Currently, the PGE Group is preparing to build offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea with a total capacity of 3.4 GW. Baltica 2 with a capacity of 1.5 GW and Baltica 3 with a capacity of 1 GW will make up the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm, which is to start producing electricity later this decade. PGE is developing this project in cooperation with Ørsted. Independently from the Baltica OWF, the PGE Group is preparing for development of the Baltica 1 project with a capacity of approx. 0.9 GW. This wind farm is scheduled for commissioning after 2030.
