Another location permit granted to PGE Baltica

On January 25, 2023, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced the results of the procedure regarding the location permit for the offshore wind farms for the area 60.E.3 located on the Central Bank of the Baltic Sea. The most points in the procedure were awarded to Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica 1, a subsidiary of PGE Baltica of the PGE Group.
- The 60.E.3 area is directly adjacent to the Baltica 1 project, which we are already developing. This means that there are great opportunities to use the synergy effect in the development of both projects in the future. In some cases, it will be possible to carry out joint procurement processes, including surveys or procurement of components necessary for the construction and operation of offshore wind farms in this part of the Baltic Sea. This is the second recently resolved proceeding in favor of the PGE Group. This proves the high substantive quality of the prepared applications and the solid work of our specialists behind it. In accordance with the strategy of the PGE Group, we plan to build at least 6.5 GW of generation capacity in the Baltic Sea by 2040, and each new location permit brings us closer to achieving this goal - commented Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
This is the second decision in favor of PGE as part of the proceedings for new areas for offshore wind energy projects in the Baltic Sea. On January 9, 2023, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced the results of the procedure for area 43.E.1. At that time, the PGE Baltica company also received the most points.
PGE Baltica is already developing the Baltica 1 project with a capacity of 896 MW in the Baltic Sea. It could build 1185 MW in the new, adjacent area. Area 60.E.3 is approx. 143 sq km and is located approx. 78 km from the Polish coast.
