PGE Baltica’s project in Ustka has a contract engineer

PGE Baltica – member of the PGE Group – has selected an entity to perform tasks of the contract engineer for the construction of the operation and maintenance base in Ustka. Sweco Polska submitted the most advantageous bid in the awarded tender.
– We are getting closer to beginning construction works in our designated area in the Port of Ustka. Modern facilities to serve the operation of future offshore wind farms will be erected there. Parallel to starting collaboration with the contract engineer we are completing the tender procedures related to the selection of a general contractor. Our goal is to begin the construction of the base in Ustka in Spring this year – said Bartosz Fedurek, President of the PGE Baltica Management Board.
The tasks of the contract engineer include supervision over detailed designing and construction of the O&M base, with regard to buildings, redevelopment of the wharf, as well as the entire infrastructure necessary to safeguard ongoing operation of the base.
New PGE Baltica facilities in Ustka will be erected in the area of approx. 2.3 ha, west of the Słupia river. They will consist of an administration building, a storage building, a vehicle circulation area, and a wharf where crew transfer service vessels (CTVs) will be moored. The O&M base is scheduled to be put into operation in Q4 2026.
The offshore wind portfolio of the PGE Group consists of eight offshore wind farm projects in different development stages, with a total installed capacity exceeding 7 GW. The most advanced one – Baltica 2, with the installed capacity of 1.5 GW and scheduled to be put into operation in 2027 – is implemented together with Ørsted. Moreover, until 2030 PGE and Ørsted are planning to launch Baltica 3 offshore wind farm with the installed capacity of 1 GW. After 2030, PGE Baltica is planning to start the construction of Baltica 1 offshore wind farm with the capacity of approx. 0.9 GW. Thanks to developing new areas in the Baltic Sea, the PGE Group will be able to continue building offshore wind farms by 2040. The first offshore farms will be operated by PGE from the operation and maintenance base in Ustka.
