PGE and Ørsted will make T5 installation terminal available to one of Ocean Winds’ projects

Ocean Winds has signed reservation agreement with a joint-venture by PGE and Ørsted that will allow the use of the T5 terminal for the construction of the BC-Wind offshore wind farm from the Ocean Winds portfolio.
Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica-2, a JV by PGE and Ørsted, which is developing the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, will lease port space in Gdansk. The T5 installation terminal will be built on an area of over 21 hectares. It will be used for the stage of turbine installation for the Baltica 2 project in 2027.
The reservation agreement signed with BC-Wind, a project being developed by Ocean Winds in Poland, is the first step towards working out final sublease agreements for these port areas. Ocean Winds wants to use the T5 terminal in 2028 as an installation facility for offshore wind turbines as part of the BC-Wind project.
A T5 terminal is being built in Gdansk - one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Europe, which will become a key link in the implementation of the ambitious offshore wind development program in Poland. Its importance is underscored by the fact that it will be used not only for the construction of the largest RES investment in the country - the Baltica 2 wind farm - but also by other offshore wind projects, both Polish and international, said Dariusz Marzec, CEO of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna. - The signed reservation agreement is another very important milestone in the development of the entire offshore sector in the Baltic. The huge interest in the use of the T5 terminal confirms not only the potential of this investment, but also the PGE Group's position as a leader in energy transformation. It is also a strong development impulse for the Pomeranian region and an opportunity for the dynamic development of the supply chain involving domestic companies. At least for the next 10-15 years, the T5 terminal in Gdansk will operate for the development of offshore wind energy, and after that it will be used depending on future market needs, added Dariusz Marzec.
The opening of Terminal T5 to another project after the completion of the installation for Baltica 2 is part of our long-term strategy to maximise the use of port resources and build a solid foundation for the development of the Polish offshore wind market. It is a solution in line with the best practices of developed offshore wind markets, which allows for efficient use of available resources and strengthens Poland's position as a key player in the region's energy transition, commented Ulrik Lange, Vice President & Managing Director Baltica 2, Ørsted, commented Ulrik Lange, Vice President & Managing Director Baltica 2, Ørsted.
We are pleased to see how the development of offshore wind energy is contributing to the dynamic development of Polish ports and increasing their importance in the energy transition process. The T5 terminal in Gdansk meets all our technical, scheduling and location requirements, which provides a solid basis for the smooth implementation of the planned activities. We are pleased that the two installation ports we will be using are located in Poland - this choice was a conscious priority for us. The implementation of the BC-Wind offshore wind farm project strengthens the local supply chain and supports the development of the competencies of the domestic offshore sector, said Kacper Kostrzewa, Managing Director in Poland, Ocean Winds.
