Another Polish company with a contract for the execution of works as part of the Baltica 9 project

PGE Baltica has signed a contract for works related to surveying the bottom of the Baltic Sea in terms of unexploded ordnances and shallow gas for the Baltica 9 Offshore Wind Farm project. The survey will be carried out by the consortium of companies: Geo Ingenieurservice Polska Sp. z o.o. measurement and survey company from Gdynia and Baltic Diving Solutions Sp. z o.o. with its registered office in Rumia as a fleet operator.
The scope of work involves the performance of geophysical surveys as well as processing, interpretation, and analysis of collected data together with issuance of ALARP certificates (as low as reasonably practicable) for individual locations on the bottom of the Baltic Sea, where geotechnical surveys will be carried out in the further perspective. These certificates are there to confirm the minimisation of risk of drilling at a place of emergence of potential hazards (such as unexploded ordnances or shallow gas deposits).
PGE Group aims at maximising the “local content”, that is, participation of Polish entrepreneurs in the supply chain as part of the execution of its own offshore projects. A consortium comprising Polish companies Geo Ingenieurservice Polska Sp. z o.o. and Baltic Diving Solutions Sp. z o.o. has joined the group of PGE Baltica trade partners. With the development of OWF projects, the involvement of domestic suppliers in the supply chain is gradually increasing, which makes us excited and at the same time shows a growing potential of Polish entrepreneurs on a global offshore wind power market – highlights Bartosz Fedurek, President of the PGE Baltica Management Board.
Surveys will be carried out at locations selected as part of a preceding 2D UHRS geophysical campaign, also performed by Geofizyka Toruń, and are scheduled to take place in Q3 2025. They will allow for initial selection of locations for laying foundations of individual turbines as part of the designed wind farm.
Krzysztof Stopierzyński – President of Baltic Driving Solutions – notices that after efficient measurement campaigns in the North Sea and foreign Baltic projects, we are happy to have Baltic Surveyor vessel participating in the preparation and execution of projects in the Polish zone of the Baltic Sea.
Offshore measurement works as part of projects of this type involve high degree of responsibility, therefore we are happy that our experience has been noticed and we will directly support developers of Polish offshore wind projects – adds Michał Tokarz, President of Geo Ingenieurservice Polska.
Baltica 9 Offshore Wind Farm is a project located in one of the five areas allocated to PGE in 2023. It is planned to be built at a distance of approx. 48 km from the shore, on an area of approx. 121 km2, in proximity to other offshore wind projects executed by PGE and the service port in Ustka currently under construction. The planned installed capacity of the installation is approx. 975 MW.
